Moving to a new phone

Your record lives under an anonymous profile on the device, so a new phone starts empty until you carry it across.

  1. On the old phone: Settings, Progress and devices, Move to a new phone, then Get a transfer code.
  2. On the new phone: the same screen, enter the code, then Restore my progress.

Both phones need a connection for that step, because the code is minted on the server. If the new phone says the code did not check out, copy it again from the old phone rather than typing it, and get a fresh code if the old one has been sitting for a while.

If the old phone is gone or wiped, the record cannot be recovered. There is no email address or password on the account to recover it with, which is the same reason the app never asks you for one.

The Surveyor's Pass

A purchase is not showing. Settings, Surveyor's Pass, Restore purchases. The pass belongs to the Apple Account that bought it, so check the phone is signed in to that account.

Cancelling. Settings, Surveyor's Pass, Manage subscription opens Apple's own screen, which is the only place a subscription can be cancelled or refunded. The pass stays active until the date shown there.

What it does not do. The pass opens every water immediately. It does not change catch odds, and it cannot buy credit. Every water can still be opened by releasing fish, which is the route the game is balanced around.

Your data

Reset all progress in Settings wipes credit, passes, records and the journal, and starts the survey over. Your account stays, and a Surveyor's Pass subscription is not affected by it.

Delete account and data removes your catch records, crew memberships, saved progress and profile from the server permanently. It cannot be undone, and no copy is kept. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Names and crews

A board name is 3 to 18 letters or numbers and can be changed at any time in Settings. Change it and the new name appears everywhere the old one did.

Crews are private and joined by a code that anyone in the crew can share. Leaving one takes you off its board only; your catches stay on the global boards, and the same code lets you rejoin later.

Playing without the motion gestures

Every gesture has a touch alternative, and nothing in the survey is reachable only by swinging the phone. Settings also carries a swing sensitivity setting, a left-handed layout, and switches for haptics and sound.

Reporting a problem

Email povkonop@gmail.com with the version number from the foot of the Settings screen, the phone and iOS version, and what you were doing when it went wrong. A screenshot helps more than a description. If it is a missing purchase, include the date it was bought.

Accessibility

Controls carry VoiceOver labels, and Reduce Motion is honoured wherever the interface animates. If something is unreadable or unreachable for you, that is a bug worth an email, and it gets treated as one.
